  • Madhura Asanara, PT

    Washington DC Office

    Madhura Asanara, M.S.P.T, M.D.T. graduated from Manipal University Of India. She then received her Masters at Oakland University, Michigan. Madhura also holds a graduate certificate in the treatment of Orthopaedics and has been practicing in an outpatient Orthopaedic setting for over 6 years. She is an avid runner and has participated in several marathon races in the past year. Her other interests include traveling, reading, and playing with her cocker-spaniel, Maggy. She specializes in the spine and is currently treating patients at our DC Clinic.

  • Samson Belai, LPTA

    Alexandria Office (Near Alexandria Hospital)

    Samson graduated in 2006 from the University of Maryland, College Park with a degree in Kinesiology. He went on to receive an Associate's Degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant from Montgomery College. He is based at our Alexandria clinic since 2009 and specializes in the treatment of orthopedic and sports related injuries. His hobbies include playing tennis, golf, and running.

  • Tracey Boros, LPTA

    Woodbridge Office

    Tracey has a Physical Therapist Assistant degree from Northern Virginia Community College, in which, she is licensed by the Board of Physical Therapy in the Commonwealth of Virginia. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training and Fitness Development from George Mason University.

    She has an Orthopedic Certification in Aquatics from the Aquatic Therapy and Rehabilitation Institute (ATRI). She has been an Aquatic Exercise Instructor since 1991 and a Certified Personal Trainer since 2001. She also holds certifications in several group fitness areas, including: Spinning, Turbo Kick, and BodyPump.

    She is a mother of two and her favorite hobby is watching movies with her family. She was Virginia State Gymnastics Champion in 1984; and was competitive in the sport for 10 years. Her newest adventure is performing in sprint triathlons.

  • Louise Burkholder, PTA

    Alexandria Office (Near Alexandria Hospital)

    Louise graduated from George Mason University in 2009 with a degree in Exercise Science. She went on to graduate from Northern Virginia Community College in 2011 with a degree in Physical Therapist Assistant. She specializes in the treatment of orthopedic and sports related injuries including the shoulder, spine, hip, and knee. Louise values the importance of individualized programs and manual therapy to improve the quality of life of all her patients. Louise a native of northern Virginia and enjoys listening to music, working out, dancing, and running.

  • Blanca Cerezco, PT

    Washington DC Office

    Blanca received her degree in Physical Therapy from Emilio Aguinaldo University in the Philippines. She has been practicing physical therapy in the United States for 15 years and is fluent in Tagalog. Blanca specializes in the spine and extremities. Blanca is currently treating patients at our DC Clinic.

  • Kelly Cooper, PT

    Alexandria Office (Near Alexandria Hospital)

    Kelly Cooper graduated in 1986 from the University of Maryland, College Park with a degree in kinesiological Sciences. She continued her education at Howard University and graduated with a degree in Physical Therapy in 1992. Her experience includes being a program supervisor for the Special Olympics. She also worked at the United Cerebral Palsy Association assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs).

  • Bhumi Desai, PT

    Fairfax Office ( Near INOVA Fairfax Hospital)

    Bhumi graduated as a physical therapist from the SNDT University, Mumbai, India in 2004. Since then, she has been practicing in outpatient orthopedics and has been with Alliance since 2008. Bhumi has a background and experience in treating non-surgical problems of the knee and shoulder joint. Her experience also includes the lumbo-sacral,cervical-thoracic and ankle-foot problems using muscle energy techniques. She is also working towards getting her manual therapist certification. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, reading and hiking. Bhumi is currently treating patients at our Fairfax Clinic.

  • LaToya Eason, PT, DPT

    Alexandria Office (Mount Vernon)

    Dr. LaToya Eason, PT, DPT serves as a Staff Physical Therapist at the Woodbridge and Mt. Vernon locations. LaToya is a native of Woodbridge, VA where she attended Woodbridge Senior High School and participated in dance (ballet, tap, jazz, etc.) beginning at the age of 4 and other activities including track & field. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2005 majoring in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise. It is at Virginia Tech where she developed an interest in physical therapy after working with the university’s various athletic teams through the student athletic training program for 3 years. After receiving her undergraduate degree, Dr. Eason attended Duke University’s Physical Therapy program where she received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2010. Her life-long history of participating in sports activities developed her current interest in sports medicine, orthopedics, health, and wellness. She LOVES her sports teams, especially football and basketball (go Cowboys! Go Hokies! Go Blue Devils!). She has had numerous opportunities working with current and former professional and semi-professional athletes and occasionally travels to Florida to volunteer with high school athletes. With her strong interest in sports, LaToya plans to receive her sports certification (SCS) through the APTA and strength and conditioning certification (CSCS) through the NSCA in the future. Her treatment philosophy is based on a combination of manual therapy and exercise, developing individual treatment plans guided by the patient and their goals.

  • Kimberly Hartman, OTR/L, CHT

    Woodbridge Office

    Director, Hand Therapy Program at Alliance Rehab. Kim has over 15 years of experience as a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) with a specialty in Hand Therapy. She graduated from Towson State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy and later went on to attend one of the premiere schools in the nation for Hand Therapy, Drexel University, where she received a post-graduate level certificate in Hand and Upper Quarter Rehabilitation. She combined her academic achievements with over 4000 hours of hand experience to earn her certification in Hand Therapy, after she passed the National Board examination in 2005. She brings advanced skills in the rehabilitation of hand injuries and will be offering a complete spectrum of rehabilitative services.

  • Jeff Hawkins, DPT

    Fairfax Office ( Near INOVA Fairfax Hospital)

    Jeff Hawkins received his Bachelor of Science from James Madison University in 1998 and his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Temple University in 2007. He has completed numerous continuing education courses including Jones Strain Counterstrain, the Mulligan Concept, as well as courses specializing in treatment of sacroiliac joint, shoulder, and knee dysfunctions. Jeff is also in the process of studying for the Maitland COMT exam. His areas of interests include rehabilitation of sports injuries, running injuries, core stabilization, and manual orthopedic therapy. In addition, from his lifelong participation in sports and outdoor activities, Jeff strives to promote a lifetime of fitness and healthy living to all his clients. Outside of physical therapy, Jeff enjoys running, bouldering, cycling, swimming, and general physical fitness. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, two boys, and their yellow lab.

  • Andrea Huotari, PT, DPT

    Fairfax Office ( Near INOVA Fairfax Hospital) & Tysons Corner Office

    Andrea Huotari works at the Fairfax and Tysons Corner/Vienna locations. Andrea has received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of North Dakota, ND. Previously she received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology with an emphasis in health and medical science from Minnesota State University, Moorhead. Andrea's primary focus is outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine rehabilitation. Her clinical experience involved outpatient orthopedics in Grand Forks, ND, as well as Sports specific training at Boise State University, in Boise ID, where she worked with football, softball, swimming, track athletes etc. at a college level for patients both pre- and post-op. In addition, Andrea has valuable clinical experience in neurological rehabilitation (TBI, amputee and stroke), acute care, and geriatric physical therapy.

  • Patricia Jack, PTA

    Fairfax Office ( Near INOVA Fairfax Hospital)

    Patricia Jack is from San Antonio, Texas and is fluent in Spanish. She received an Associate's of Applied Science Degree from St. Philips College in 1998. Patricia obtained her Texas license as a Physical Therapist Assistant in 1999 and endorsed her license to Virginia in 2009. She has over 10 years of experience working in an outpatient clinical setting and one year of home health experience. She has been employed at Alliance since June 2009. Currently, Patricia is enrolled at the University of Maryland University College pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. She is also studying for a Certificate as a Health Fitness Specialist from the American College of Sports Medicine. She has three boys, Erick, Devin, and Quentin, and her husband, Whitfield who is currently serving in the United States Air Force. Patricia is currently treating patients at our Fairfax Clinic.Patricia recently competed in the Half-DC National Marthon and will be participating in the Woodrow Wilson Half Marathon.

  • Kazumi Keener, OTR/L

    Fairfax Office ( Near INOVA Fairfax Hospital) & Tysons Corner Office

    Kazumi graduated from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI, in 1997 with a bachelors degree in occupational therapy. Kazumi has been taking continuing education courses specializing in the hand. She moved to Chicago where she practiced over 10 years in mostly an inpatient rehabilitation setting and during this time, transfered to the hand clinic. Kazumi took special interest in working with neurological conditions and helping these patients regain function and improve in ADL's. She really enjoys splinting and believes in a holistic approach by not just treating the hand but treating the entire upper extremity. She looks at each individual patient and their specific lifestyle demands and caters a treatment program specific to their needs. She is fluent in Japanese. Kazumi enjoys treating hand patients and is currenty wqorking towards becoming a certified hand therapist.

    Jim Luna has been a PTA since 2000 when he earned his AAS at Northern Virginia Community College. Jim has also extended his knowledge base by attending numerous continuing education classes related to Sports Injuries, Manual Therapy and Weight Training.Jim is currently treating patients at our Alexandria - Mt. Vernon Clinic.

  • Cindy Perdomo-Martin, PTA

    Fairfax Office ( Near INOVA Fairfax Hospital)

    Cindy graduated in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College with an Associate’s Degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant. She is interested in becoming certified in manual therapy and enjoys working with a wide variety of post-surgical orthopedic conditions. Her interests include spinal, shoulder and knee conditions. She is also pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration. After traveling to her native country, Honduras, she became interested in volunteering for Allied Health Care activities overseas. In her free time, she enjoys biking, hiking, dance and fitness. Cindy began her professional career at our Fairfax Clinic in October 2009.

  • Kandice Minor, DPT

    Springfield Office

    Kandice Minor, PT, DPT has been practicing physical therapy since earning her doctorate in physical therapy with a concentration in musculoskeletal injuries in 2006 from Drexel University. Kandice graduated from James Madison University in 2003, earning a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences, Pre-Physical Therapy. She is licensed through the Virginia State Board of Health Professions and is also a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.

    Kandice has been practicing physical therapy in Virginia for five years. She has taken multiple continuing education courses to enhance her manual therapy skills and to diversify functional therapeutic exercises in order to individualize her patient's treatment program. She especially enjoys treating post-operative diagnoses and athletic injuries of the shoulder, spine, knee and foot. Kandice takes a biomechanical approach to treatment, assessing other related joints to determine possible underlying factors that may be contributing to the current complaint. Among other professional goals, Kandice is studying to become an Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS).

    Kandice's interest in physical therapy began at an early age as she was a competitive gymnast and basketball player in high school. While no longer playing sports as a competitive level, she takes pleasure staying active by running, doing pilates and weight training. Kandice speaks Spanish and thoroughly enjoys learning about other cultures.

  • Nathaniel Mitchell, L.P.T.A.

    Nathaniel graduated from Northern Virginia Community College in May 2010 with a degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant. He obtained licensure from the Board of Physical Therapy in the Commonwealth of Virginia in September 2010 after successfully passing the National Physical Therapy Examination.

    Nathaniel has gained knowledge in treating various orthopedic injuries and has experience treating back, neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee, ankle, and foot pathologies.

    Nathaniel has played recreational football since he was 7 years old and is a fan of all professional sports. He also enjoys traveling and experiencing new cultures.

  • Joyce Myers, PTA

    Physical Therapy is Joyce's second career that started in 1996, when she graduated from Northern Virginia Community College as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Over the years, her degree has taken her to working in Home Health Care settings, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Long term and Intensive Care Physical Therapy in hospitals, Fairfax County Schools where she treated children with disabilities, and Sheltered Workshops where she worked with adults with multiple challenges. She has been with us since 2004 and enjoys Aquatic Therapy in addition to outpatient therapy. “Physical Therapy is one of the most rewarding careers for me and every environment has touched my heart. During her leisure time, Joyce enjoys gourmet cooking, crocheting, painting in her art studio and taking Ballroom dancing. “Life is good!

  • Camille Pineda, PT, PTRP

    Tysons Corner Office

    Camille is currently working at the Tyson's Corner office and was previously at the Fairfax clinic. She has been working in the outpatient orthopedic facility with Alliance for the past 5 months. She was previously licensed in the Philippines and practiced as a Sports/Orthopedic and Temporomandibular Joint Specialist for three and a half years, working closely with the Philippine Basketball Association and Private School Varsity Teams in Manila. She earned her degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Santo Tomas in 2007 and has taken certification courses specializing in muscle taping, joint and soft tissue manipulation. Through clinical experience, she has treated a variety of patients including musculoskeletal, orthopedic, post-operative conditions and TMJ disorders.

  • Asha Pumphrey, DPT

    Woodbridge Office

    Dr. Pumphrey received her Doctorate of Physical therapy from the medical college of Virginia in August of 2011. For undergraduate studies, Asha attended university of Illinois-urbana champaign to earn her Bachelors of Science in psychology. Her hobbies include running various 5-10k races, playing tennis, and playing with pets. Asha has previous clinical experiences with various sports medicine diagnoses as well as clinical experience with patients who have a neurological, orhtopedic, and geriatric diagnosis. She has a strong passion for a variety of sports including tennis, dance, gymnastics, track, cross country, and soccer to name a few! Asha is currently pursuing advanced educational opportunities related to sports medicine and hopes to obtain her orthopedic certification specialist one day. Currently direct access certified. Asha is currently treating patients at our Woodbridge Office.

  • Kashaf Raja, PTA, DPT

    Fairfax Office ( Near INOVA Fairfax Hospital)

    Kashaf is new to the Virginia area having just moved from Pittsburgh (PA) in September of 2011. Kashaf completed his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2002. Being an avid sports fan, Kashaf wanted to combine his interest in sports, and education in science to pursue physical therapy. In 2006, he received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. He has working experience in long-term care and outpatient settings. Kashaf is currently working at our Fairfax (VA) office as a PTA and will start work as a PT pending licensure.

  • Mohammed Ramadan, PTA

    Alexandria Office (Mount Vernon)

    Mohammed completed his B.S. in physical Education in 1990 in Cairo Egypt. He taught gymnastics, individual & team sports for Junior high and high school students. To further his knowledge, he decided to pursue his Physical Therapist Assistant degree from Northern Virginia Community College, in which he graduated in 2000. He started his PTA career in an inpatient facility doing woundcare, and now enjoys outpatient orthopedics. He has been at our Springfield Clinic since 2006 and is fluent in Arabic.

  • Francis Ramirez, PT, DPT, MS, CPT

    Woodbridge Office

    Dr. Ramirez received his undergraduate education from the George Washington University, where he graduated as the top student and undergraduate speaker for the commencement ceremonies of the School of Public Health and Health Services. He received both his Master of Science and Doctor of Physical Therapy degrees at the Medical College of Virginia-VCU; where he had served as the Director of Personal Training in the Medical Campus under Dr. Eric West. He has had extensive training in sports medicine and orthopedics-having worked with many youth, amateur, and professional athletes; dancers and ballerinas; and weekend warriors here and abroad. He has also worked with amputee patients; Industrial Rehabilitation clients; and is proficient with the evaluation for and fabrication of custom-made foot orthoses. He is a Board Certified Direct Access Provider; and is licensed to practice in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Virginia.

    Dr. Ramirez is currently an Advanced-level practitioner of John F. Barnes’ Myofascial Release technique, which he has been practicing for over 6 years. He has also taken Advanced Manipulative Therapy courses with famed Brasilian chiropractor Dr. Ines Nakashima; and has apprenticed with various expert-level osteopathic-trained manual therapists. He has had very good results in resolving patients’ symptoms. Dr. Ramirez utilizes a multi-faceted treatment approach incorporating manual therapies, postural assessment, and innovative exercise protocols.

    Dr. Ramirez is an avid fan of CR Flamengo, FC Barcelona, Everton FC, and DC United; and enjoys watching the “beautiful game.” He has also trained in Brasilian jiu-jitsu and capoeira, having seen the best in both arts when he travelled to Brasil.

  • Avni Sawhney, PT

    Originally from India moved to U.S. 7 years ago and got married and moved to U.S. Graduated from Wayne State in Michigan and moved to Michigan thereafter. I have been practicing and specializing in outpatient orthopedics rehab for two years. Other specialties include Maitland Kineseotaping, AMT Techniques, and kalten brown. My hobbies included watching and enjoying Indian classical dance, traveling, cooking, and im also an avid movie watcher. I feel strongly about the positive impact we are making here at our Alexandria office thanks in large part to my colleagues and co-workers here.

    Tyler Schorr is a native of Moundsville, West Virginia. He received his Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance from West Virginia University. He then went on to receive his Master of Occupational Therapy from West Virginia University in 2010. He is licensed through the Board of Occupational Therapy in the Commonwealth of Virginia as well as the state of West Virginia. Tyler has experience working in skilled care facilities, acute care hospitals, and outpatient clinics. Tyler plans on becoming a Certified Hand Therapist and enjoys treating orthopedic conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. In his free time, he enjoys sports, hunting, fishing, and any other outdoor activity.

  • Tasneem A. Shaikh, DPT

    Springfield Office

    Tasneem is the clinic director of the Springfield Clinic. She attended the University of Virginia for her undergraduate studies, completed her Masters in Science and Physical Therapist degree from the Medical College of Virginia, and has been practicing in the state of Virginia since 2000. She completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy two years ago from AT Still University of Health Sciences in Arizona. Tasneem initially worked in acute care, where she treated patients immediately after orthopedic, neurological and cardiac surgeries, however her passion is treating patients with orthopedic deficits. She has a strong background in manual therapy and has completed multiple continuing education courses from a nationally renowned institute, specializing in manual therapy and exercise techniques, focused on increasing range of motion, strength, stabilization, and postural control of the core, spine, and extremities. Tasneem has also been trained in treating infants with torticollis and children with mild motor deficits. She incorporates strengthening and stabilization with manual therapy to achieve a more functional and healthy lifestyle and promote overall health and wellness for our patients. Tasneem is fluent in English, Hindi, Urdu, and French, and she is currently studying Spanish.

  • Elliot Smith, PT, DPT

    Leesburg-Lansdowne Office

    Elliot Smith, Clinic Director at Alliance Rehab in Leesburg-Lansdowne, received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Gannon University in Erie, PA. Prior to attending Gannon University Elliot studied at Slippery Rock University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science. Elliot’s primary focus is outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine rehabilitation. His clinical experience in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL led him to work with both professional and amateur athletes in football, baseball, and golf, as well as rehabilitating the high school athlete both pre- and post-surgical. In addition, Elliot has valuable clinical experience in stroke rehabilitation, acute cardiopulmonary, neurological, and geriatric physical therapy.

  • Ila Talwar, PTA

    Ila completed her undergraduate degree in Biology with Business Studies from Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London, UK. After moving to the US she worked in the project administration field, however her passion for working with people drove her to enter the field of physical therapy. Ila obtained her Physical Therapist Assistant degree from Northern Virginia Community College and is licensed by the Board of Physical Therapy to practice in Virginia. Ila is drawn to treating patients with orthopedic and neurological conditions and has a keen interest in pursuing certifications in Manual Therapy. In her free time Ila enjoys spending time with her family, watching movies and going swimming. Ila is fluent in Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu and has started her career as a PTA at our Springfield location.

  • Geeta Trehan, DPT, MS

    Geeta graduated with a double degree in Finance and International Business from the University of Maryland. She worked for 2 years but her passion for physical therapy kept growing, so she decided to pursue a career in Physical Therapy. She received her Masters in Physical Therapy in 2002 from the Medical College of Virginia and completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2005 from Temple University.Geeta is a member of the APTA and enjoys working with neurology and orthopedic conditions.Geeta is the Clinical Director of our Fairfax and Tysons Corner clinics.

  • Renee Trombley, PT, DPT

    Woodbridge Office

    Dr. Trombley graduated from the Medical College of Virginia with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She completed her undergraduate work at Longwood University; where she majored in Biology. At Longwood, Dr. Trombley was a member of BBB, the Biological Honor Society. She was also a teaching assistant for Microbiology during her junior and senior years. After graduation from PT school, she moved to Tampa, FL; and after working for a year at Florida Orthopedic Institute, she became an instructor and clinical physical therapist at the University of South Florida School of Physical Therapy. She was jointly appointed in Physical Therapy and Pediatrics. She co-instructed wound care; and participated in a multi-disciplinary Healthy Weight clinic for juveniles and young adults; for exercise prescription and progression. She returned to Virginia in 2010. She is a Board Certified Direct Access Provider. She is also the CCCE for all Alliance clinics.

    Renee is interested in all orthopedic conditions; especially sports medicine. She has treated various diagnoses from TMJ disorders, pre-operative exercise prescription, and postoperative care. She is currently practicing and taking courses in Myofascial Release from John Barnes, PT.

    Renee enjoys various sports and activities from running, tennis, golf, yoga and has recently switched from skiing to snowboarding, as well as trying indoor rock climbing. She spends most of her time with her dog Pogi, and watching hockey: Tampa Bay Lightning.

  • Ching Tseng's, PT

    Born and grew up in Taiwan. Father, mother, 2 sisters in the family who still live in Taiwan. Completed college education, BS degree in physical therapy, at Chang Gung University, Taiwan. Came to the States in 2004 for graduate study, MS degree in physical therapy, University of Pittsburgh, PA.

    Moved to Northern Virginia in 2006 for the first job as an outpatient physical therapies. Working with patients after work injury, acute and chronic musculoskeletal problems; pediatric patients with developmental delays and torticollis for 2 years.

    Took continuing education courses in joint mobilization, nerve mobilization, myofascial release, pelvic and lumbar spine rehabilitation pre- and post-operation, evidence-based practice, and medical screening for referral. Worked under orthopedic specialist physicians for orthopaedic post-op rehabilitation, common musculoskeletal diseases for spine, shoulder, knee etc for 2 another years. Married in 2010, currently expecting a baby girl in Aug 2011.

    My approach in physical therapy include patient centered care, individualized treatment program, manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, patient education, respecting patients’ feedback. I am currently working towards getting Orthopaedic Specialist Certification.

  • Mary L. Woodbury, OTR/L, CHT

    Mary has nearly 18 years of experience working as an Occupational / Hand Therapist. She is a 1989 graduate of University of New England. She received her Hand Therapy Certification in 2008. She is used to working in multi-disciplinary treatment team with extensive experience in the evaluation, treatment, and modalities to treat upper extremity orthopedic conditions. She easily establishes rapport with patients and staff members. Independently plans, develops, and implements comprehensive and complex treatment programs for individual patients. She is also responsible for the development and adherence to Occupational Therapy protocols.

  • Malgosha Zalenska, PTA

    Fairfax Office ( Near INOVA Fairfax Hospital)

    Malgosha graduated from the PTA program at Northern Virginia Community College in 1994. She has been with Alliance since October 2008. Her experience includes working in Outpatient Orthopedic Physical Therapy clinics and specializes in manual therapy.She is also a licensed massage therapist. Malgosha is a blind athlete who enjoys participating in running, skiing and tandem biking. Malgosha is treating patients at our Fairfax Clinic.
